Is ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Worth It?

Character breakfasts at Disney World are kind of a gamble.
The characters are always amazing - but the food? That can be a coin flip. You're paying premium prices, and sometimes you walk out wondering if you just spent $200 on lukewarm scrambled eggs and a photo with a costume.
So when we sat down at 'Ohana for the Best Friends Breakfast a few weeks ago, the real question on my mind wasn't "will my daughter love it?" (obviously yes).
It was: is 'Ohana worth it?
At $53 per adult and $33 per kid, that's not a casual decision - that's a real chunk of the Disney budget.
This blog is specifically about the character breakfast at 'Ohana - not dinner, which is a completely different (and character-free) experience. We'll touch on dinner briefly only where it helps clarify your decision. The rest is everything you need to know to figure out whether breakfast at 'Ohana Disney deserves a spot on your itinerary.
The Quick Answer: Is 'Ohana Worth It?
Now let's get into the why.
Where Is 'Ohana at Disney World?
'Ohana is on the second floor of Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, one of the three monorail-loop resorts (along with the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary).
The restaurant has these huge windows that look out over the Seven Seas Lagoon, and on a clear morning you can see Cinderella Castle in the distance. It's gorgeous.
The vibe is exactly what you'd want for a Polynesian-themed character meal - tiki torches outside, warm wood interior, the smell of pineapple-coconut bread floating around. The Polynesian itself is a stunning resort to walk through, so even getting to the restaurant feels like part of the experience.
The parking situation: if you're driving and you have a dining reservation, technically you can park free at the Polynesian. BUT - and this is the part nobody tells you - that resort parking is limited to 3 hours when you're there for dining only.
We had Magic Kingdom plans right after breakfast, and a Disney character breakfast plus a park day is way more than 3 hours, so we parked at the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) and took the monorail over. If you're planning to bounce to Magic Kingdom after, do the same.
How to Get to 'Ohana

You've got options here, which is one of the perks of the Polynesian's location:
- Monorail from Magic Kingdom, the TTC, the Grand Floridian, or the Contemporary
- Boat from Magic Kingdom or the Grand Floridian (slower but charming)
- Bus from any other park or resort
- Walking if you're staying at the Polynesian or the new DVC tower
- Parking at the Polynesion - you get 3 free hours of parking with a dining reservation. When you walk in, go up the stairs and you'll see 'Ohana.
Whatever you choose, give yourself at least 30 minutes of buffer time. Disney transportation has a way of taking longer than the app promises, and you don't want to lose your reservation because the monorail had a "small delay."
What's the Character Breakfast Like at 'Ohana?

The official name is the "Best Friends Breakfast featuring Lilo & Stitch" and you'll meet four characters dressed in their Polynesian outfits:
- Mickey Mouse in a Hawaiian shirt
- Pluto in a lei
- Lilo
- Stitch
Here's the part that sells it for a lot of families: this is the only place at Disney World where you can meet Lilo. Stitch has a character meet-and-greet at Magic Kingdom you can stand in line for, but Lilo lives at 'Ohana breakfast and basically nowhere else on property. If you have a kid who's even mildly into the movie, this alone might be the answer to "is 'Ohana worth it."
The characters come around to every table, and what makes this different from other character meals is the 1-on-1 table time. Mickey actually hangs out with you. Stitch hams it up. Lilo will doodle in your autograph book if you give her one. You get real photos, not blurry over-the-shoulder shots.
What Comes With Breakfast

This is a family-style, all-you-care-to-enjoy meal, which means they bring out platters of everything and you can ask for more of anything you want. Here's what shows up:
- Pineapple-coconut breakfast bread - start with this. It's legendary for a reason. Soft, sweet, slightly glazed on top.
- POG juice (pineapple-orange-guava) - unlimited and famously good
- Stitch waffles - only available at 'Ohana, so this is your one shot
- Mickey waffles - classic
- Scrambled eggs
- Breakfast potatoes with a Polynesian island twist
- Pork breakfast sausage
- Ham with pineapple
- Fresh fruit
If you want to see the full breakfast menu with current items, Disney has it here.
Honest food take: we were genuinely surprised by how good this was. Compared to other character meals, 'Ohana's food is meaningfully better. The pineapple-coconut bread alone is worth ordering more rounds of. It's one of the better character meal food experiences at Walt Disney World right now.
Now, characters are a personal preference. The Crystal Palace characters (Pooh and friends), for example, might mean more to your family than Lilo and Stitch. That's fine. But on the food side, 'Ohana wins in our book.
'Ohana for Food Allergies (Our Egg Allergy Experience)

Our daughter has a severe egg allergy, which makes any meal stressful. Eggs are basically everywhere at breakfast. Here's exactly how 'Ohana handled it:
- We mentioned the allergy when we sat down. No need to call ahead - you tell the server, the server tells the chef, and the chef takes it from there.
- (Sometimes) the chef will come out personally to talk through her allergy and walk us through the safe options.
- She got her own Mickey AND Stitch waffles - allergy-friendly, made separately to avoid cross-contamination.
- She also got a dedicated breakfast skillet with safe potatoes, meats, and plant-based eggs prepared without contact with eggs.
It was, no exaggeration, one of the best allergy experiences we've had at any restaurant. If you have an allergy kid and you've been nervous about character meals, this is a really good one to start with.
How to Get a Reservation at 'Ohana
'Ohana is one of the most popular character breakfasts at Disney World. Translation: book early or be flexible.
The 60-Day Window
Disney opens Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) 60 days before your arrival date. If you're staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you get day 60 plus the entire length of your stay, which is a big advantage for popular reservations like this one.
To book:
- Open the My Disney Experience app at exactly 6:00 AM ET on your 60-day mark
- Search "'Ohana" and select the date and party size
- Grab the time you want before someone else does (this is not a metaphor)
What If You Didn't Book at 60 Days?
We didn't. We went during an off-week in April and booked just a few weeks out, and here's what happened: there were reservations available, but not a lot of them. We had to take what we could get and plan our day around it.
So if you're not booking at the 60-day mark, here's the truth:
- You can still find availability, especially in slower weeks
- You won't get to pick your time - you'll take what's open
- You may need to plan your park day backward from the reservation slot
- The earlier or later in the morning, the harder to get
If you want a specific time at 'Ohana, book it at exactly 60 days. If you're flexible, you can still make it work closer in.
The Walk-Up Waitlist
If nothing comes up in advance, try the walk-up list in the My Disney Experience app on the day. Open the app → magnifying glass → search "'Ohana" → "Join Walk-Up List." It's a long shot for breakfast, but it does happen, especially on weekdays.
Cancellation Policy
If you book and need to cancel, do it at least 2 hours in advance or you'll be charged $10 per person. The app makes this easy - just don't forget.
How Much Does 'Ohana Breakfast Cost?
Here's the full pricing breakdown:
- Adults (ages 10+): $53
- Children (ages 3–9): $33
- Children under 3: Free
- Beverages included: POG juice, coffee, tea, water
- Tax and gratuity: NOT included - budget an extra ~25%
So for a family of three (2 adults, 1 kid), you're looking at roughly $175 all-in with tax and tip.
The Worth-It Math
Yes, $175 for breakfast is a lot. But let's reframe:
- A quick-service breakfast for three runs you about $40-60 anyway
- A character meet-and-greet at the parks costs you 20-40 minutes of wait time you can't get back
- 'Ohana gives you four characters with real 1-on-1 time, unlimited food, the Polynesian Resort experience, and a chill 90 minutes off your feet in the AC.
When you frame it that way, the value gets clearer. You're not just paying for food. You're paying for character efficiency and a built-in break in your day.
Is 'Ohana Worth It? Our Honest Take
Yes, for our family, 'Ohana breakfast was worth it. Here's the breakdown:
The caveats: if you have very picky eaters who won't touch waffles, eggs, or pork, the family-style format works against you (you're paying for unlimited food they won't eat). And if you're a 7-AM-rope-drop-or-die family, the 90-minute commitment can pull you out of valuable park time.
But if you're a Lilo and Stitch household, an allergy family, or just someone who wants a character meal that doesn't make you question your life choices food-wise? Book it. Ideally at the 60-day mark.
Frequently Asked Questions
What time does 'Ohana breakfast start?
'Ohana breakfast runs from 7:30 AM to 12:15 PM daily. The earliest reservations are the most coveted if you're trying to rope-drop Magic Kingdom right after. If you want a chill morning and a later breakfast, the 10–11 AM slots are usually a little easier to grab.
Can you do 'Ohana breakfast without staying at the Polynesian?
Yes! You don't have to be a Polynesian guest, or even a Disney Resort guest, to book 'Ohana. Anyone can make a reservation, but resort guests get the 60-day-plus-stay booking advantage, which is real.
What characters are at 'Ohana breakfast?
Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Lilo, and Stitch - all dressed in their Polynesian best. This is currently the only place at Disney World where you can meet Lilo, and one of the only consistent places to meet Stitch in a sit-down dining setting.
Is 'Ohana the only place to meet Lilo at Disney World?
Yes. As of 2026, 'Ohana is the only character dining experience that features Lilo at WDW, and it's the only reliable place to find her on property. If she's a must-meet for your trip, 'Ohana is your shot.
What's the dress code at 'Ohana?
Casual. It's a resort restaurant inside a hotel - come comfortable, especially if you're heading to a park after. Sneakers, shorts, sundresses are all fine.
How long does 'Ohana breakfast take?
Plan on roughly 75-90 minutes. Between the family-style courses, character interactions, and getting good photos with all four characters, you don't want to rush. If you have an early Magic Kingdom plan after, book a 7:30 or 8:00 AM slot and give yourself time to walk to the monorail.
Is 'Ohana breakfast or dinner better?
Different vibes entirely. Breakfast is the character meal (Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, Pluto), and the food is American-Polynesian breakfast classics. Dinner is no characters but features the famous 'Ohana noodles, skewers, and bread pudding. If you want characters, breakfast. If you want a fancier Polynesian dinner, that's a different decision for another blog.
